Instant Karma

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 21, 2009, 6:02 PM
Karma in the Indian religions is the concept of "action" or "deed" (from Wikipedia). Which means through our thoughts, words, our own actions, or actions others do under our instructions we cause an effect...either positive or negative. However, at every moment in time we have an opportunity to do something about our destiny by doing the right thing at the right time. We produce negative karma because we lack knowledge and clarity. Is that to say the more we learn, the broader our knowledge base, the more clarity we will acquire to better effect positive karma for ourselves (and our next life) and those around us?
I guess that begs the question...do we learn from our actions and the karma that action or actions have created? Because the karma we create will effect the future, and our next life, then is it not important to do our best...to make the right choices for the right reasons so that the outcome will be positive.
"Karma is not fate, for humans act with free will creating their own destiny." Therefore, we can effect the possible outcome of our actions by making right choices for the right reasons. To help us make right choices that will effect our life and others around us, we must acheive balance between yin on one hand and yang on the other hand. It is the action of striving for this balance that will help us create positive karma that will make our lives better, as well as those we come into contact with as we travel down life's path...where ever that path will take us from this moment on.

I'm older than dirt...but very good dirt. I have a BFA, and MA in Art Education. I'm lazy when it comes to my art work...to easily preoccupied with other matters...but I am working again (and that is a good thing):)

Your quite welcome.:)

Thank you very much for the comment on Ronde- I'm self taught, so it was quite a compliment coming from someone with a background such as yours. Being an autodidact in art is a lot easier with communities like this online! Thanks again. :)

The compliment is very well deserved. Your natural ability is a real gift. You have a natural sense of composion, and a great sense of design and color. Are you painting in oils or acrylics? If you haven't shown your art work, you should consider doing that at some point.

I've got things up in a strange gallery/spa set up in town here- otherwise, no shows. It was a big deal just to show my stuff there- they approached me. I am not sure as to how to go about getting into a show otherwise. Any tips?

I made us of the local art group, and community center. Is there any other galleries in town except the one you are in? You can also just rent a space, and put on your own show either by yourself, or with another person or two to save on the cost. Also, you might put together a digital portfolio with a bio that you can take, or send place. :)

Thank you for the advice! I am looking into all of the mentioned- it's not a very big city, so not sure exactly what to do yet, but am going to try to get some stuff up and running for the new year! Cheers!
